A touching story about a family from Bensenville, Ill., has led to Alexian Brothers Medical Center (ABMC) being featured in a big football commercial this Sunday. ABMC is part of Alexian Brothers Health System (ABHS), a member of Ascension Health.
Corporal Greg Bacon was serving his second tour of duty in Iraq when his wife, Jennifer, went into labor. Thanks to quick thinking by Greg’s military base supervisor, and the caring cooperation of the administration, doctors, nurses and staff at ABMC, Greg was able to witness his son’s birth at ABMC live via Skype from more than 6,000 miles away.
Employees at Microsoft Corp. were so moved by the story, they worked with the ABHS Communications/Public Relations Department and WGN-TV to include footage taken in ABMC’s labor & delivery suite as part of a major commercial airing this weekend during the football game. But don’t blink or you might miss it. The commercial will be a montage of many different scenarios celebrating how technology has helped bring families together.
The original story aired on Chicago's WGN-TV.
