In late January, after reflection and prayerful discernment, the Participating Entity Representatives reappointed three of the current members of the Ascension Sponsor and appointed a new member for her first term.
Sr. Mary Kay Hadican, CSJ, and Mr. John "Jack" Logue, two of the first members of the Ascension Sponsor appointed by the Participating Entity Representatives, were each reappointed for a third term effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019. Sr. Mary Kay has served as an educator, hospital mission integration leader, and on the province leadership team. Jack is the director of the Spirituality Center of St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Sr. Catherine "Cathy" Hanegan, SSM, joined as the congregational representative of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother of the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi, US/Caribbean Province when the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother joined Ascension. She was appointed to a second term effective July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2019. She was a teacher before joining catholic healthcare and served eight years as Provincial Superior for the US/Caribbean Province. In 2014, Sr. Cathy celebrated 50 years as a Sister of the Sorrowful Mother.
In addition to the reappointments, the Participating Entity Representatives appointed Dr. Zeni Fox, Emeriti Professor of Pastoral Theology, School of Theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary, Seton Hall University, to a first term effective July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2019. Dr. Fox has explored and written about the spirituality of lay leaders. Her book, Called and Chosen: Toward a Spirituality for Lay Leaders, was developed for leaders of Catholic Institutional ministries. She has served as an advisor to the United States Bishops' Committee on the Laity and Subcommittee on Lay Ministry.
