James Beckmann named President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascension Holdings International

James K. Beckmann has assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascension Holdings International effective April 15, 2019. Jim had served as Senior Vice President, Ascension, and Chief Operating Officer, Ascension Holdings, since 2015.

John Doyle, who has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascension Holdings and Ascension Holdings International, will continue serving in governance roles as Chair of Ascension Holdings International and its entities, and in his role as Ascension Executive Vice President, will continue reporting to Ascension CEO Anthony R. Tersigni until John’s planned retirement July 1, 2019, after which he will participate in Ascension as part of Ascension Consulting Network.

Jim will serve in both governance and management for Ascension international entities (subsidiaries, joint ventures, etc.), including Ascension Ramsay NuSoarceGlobal, Ascension’s global sourcing joint venture with Australia-based Ramsay Health Care. Ascension Ramsay NuSoarceGlobal, the first global venture of its kind, is designed to help health system leaders competitively source and procure the products and services their healthcare professionals and patients need every day. Further, Jim will provide leadership for determining Ascension’s strategy to strengthen Catholic healthcare and engage Catholic healthcare organizations based in other parts of the world.

Before rejoining the Ascension System Office in 2015, Jim served as President and CEO of Carondelet Health Network in Tucson, Arizona, where he was responsible for the strategic leadership and direction of the health system. Jim’s contributions included leading the successful transition of Carondelet to operating as a joint venture of Ascension, Dignity Health and Tenet Healthcare. Previously Jim was Senior Vice President for System Support Services at Ascension Health. In this role, he had overall leadership responsibility for Supply Chain (now The Resource Group), Risk Services (now Ascension Risk Services), the Operations Resource Group (now Performance Excellence), and the Facilities Resource Group (now part of Medxcel Facilities Management). He also served as the System Chief Risk Officer. Prior to joining Ascension, Jim had an extensive career in the insurance industry. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Applied Mathematics from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and an MBA from the University of Tampa in Florida. He also is a member of the Ascension Leadership Academy.
