Two longtime and respected executives will be taking on new responsibilities on the Ascension Michigan leadership team.
Bob Hoban, who currently serves as President of Ascension St. John Hospital and Ascension River District Hospital, is planning to leave at the end of this fiscal year. Bob will use his remaining time with Ascension to establish a new statewide role as President of the Ascension Michigan Market Foundation.
Kevin Grady, MD, has accepted the role of President of Ascension St. John Hospital and Ascension River District Hospital. These changes will be effective August 19, 2019.
“We are fortunate that both individuals are trusted and accomplished leaders within our system and have professional and personal qualifications that are a ready fit for their new roles,” said Jean Meyer, Chief Operating Officer, Ascension Michigan.
Bob has been part of Ascension Michigan since 2001, joining the St. John Providence system as Chief Strategy Officer. In subsequent years his role evolved to include statewide responsibilities for Strategy and Centers of Excellence, administrative lead for the Cardiovascular Service Line, and President of the Care Continuum. In his previous experience at VHA Michigan, Bob worked with a consortium of 50 hospitals across the state for 12 years and during this time had some involvement with most of the communities served by Ascension Michigan.
Bob already has a track record of involvement with the Ascension St. John and Ascension Providence foundations. His role will be to create alignment across the Ascension Michigan foundations statewide while retaining the local autonomy and direction that is so important to the donor community.
Dr. Grady has been Chief Medical Officer of Ascension St. John for five years and has served on staff at the hospital as a pulmonary/critical care physician for 33 years. He served in various medical staff leadership roles, has been a member on several boards within Ascension SE Michigan through the years, and acted for a time as Chief Medical Officer of the SE Michigan region. He has long been a champion of patient-centered care and is noted for his dedication to Ascension St. John. Dr. Grady will appoint an interim Chief Medical Officer prior to assuming his new role.
