Ascension Oklahoma supports Downtown Tulsa Partnership

Ascension St. John in Oklahoma will begin supporting the Downtown Tulsa Partnership (DTP) with expanded services to help people who are experiencing homelessness and mental health issues.

The DTP began its efforts to improve the downtown area during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to maintaining streetlights and keeping the downtown Tulsa area clean, the DTP found itself needing to conduct thousands of welfare checks for people experiencing homelessness. Because this need continues, the DTP has been able to expand services thanks to a new outreach coordinator.

The coordinator “will be able to work more closely with individuals experiencing homelessness and and those who are in mental health crises thanks to a grant and support from Ascension St. John,” Brian Kurtz, CEO and President of DTP, told 2 News Oklahoma.

Why it matters: The Downtown Tulsa Partnership aligns with our Mission call to serve all persons, with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable, by connecting people in need with programs that improve their lives and the community.
