Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis named to Newsweek and Statista’s list of World’s Best Hospitals

Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis has been named to Newsweek and Statista’s annual list of the World’s Best Hospitals. The list, which is part of a series that began in March 2019 recognizing hospitals worldwide for their expertise and performance across nearly a dozen medical fields, includes data organized by nation on more than 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries.

“We are truly honored that Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis has been recognized on the 2025 list of the World’s Best Hospitals. At Ascension, our Mission calls us to serve all persons with special attention to those most poor and vulnerable, and this achievement reflects the dedication of our caregivers who live that Mission every day,” said Kevin Speer, JD, Senior Vice President, Ascension and Chief Executive Officer, Ascension St. Vincent Indiana. “Our associates go above and beyond to provide compassionate, high-quality care to every patient we are privileged to serve. This recognition is a testament to their unwavering commitment to our patients and the community.”

Each hospital's score is based on an online survey of more than 85,000 medical experts and public data from post-hospitalization patient surveys on their general satisfaction. The score also considers metrics on things like hygiene and patient/doctor ratio as well as a Statista survey on whether hospitals use Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), which are standardized questionnaires completed by patients to assess their experience and results.

“At Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis, our caregivers are the heart of everything we do,” said Dan Parod, President, Central Region, Ascension St. Vincent. “This recognition is a reflection of their tireless dedication, expertise, and compassion in providing the highest level of care to our patients. Every person who walks through our doors deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported, and our teams work every day to make that a reality. We are grateful for our caregivers and the patients who trust us with their care.”

Statista developed a rigorous methodology to ensure the quality & validity of the ranking. A global board of medical experts certifies the continuous development and scope of the project. Four data sources were used for the evaluation:

  • Hospital Recommendations from Peers: Online survey among tens of thousands of doctors, healthcare professionals, and hospital managers in 30 countries
  • Patient Experience: Survey of patient satisfaction with hospitalization
  • Hospital Quality Metrics: Medical indicators (e.g., data on quality of care for treatments, hygiene measures, patient safety, waiting times)
  • Implementation of PROMs: Statista online survey on implementation and use of PROMs in hospitals (optional)

The World's Best Hospitals 2025 list recognizes the best medical institutions across 30 countries: the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, Canada, India, Australia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Austria, Thailand, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Israel, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Chile and Malaysia.
