New era at Rutherford Hospital as longtime CEO Ferguson retires, successor begins

Rutherford County is one of Tennessee’s fastest-growing areas, and our presence here reflects that momentum. At Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford, we’ve expanded our services, increased capacity, and enhanced access to care—opening our Westlawn neighborhood hospital, adding NICU and critical care beds, and preparing for a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Our commitment is clear: to provide high-quality, compassionate care close to home.

After nearly two decades of leadership, Gordon B. Ferguson is stepping into a new chapter. His vision and dedication helped shape our evolution into a regional health destination. We’re grateful for his legacy and excited to welcome Daphne David as our new CEO, ready to lead us into our next phase of growth and service to this remarkable community.

This is more than growth. It’s a promise—to serve, to lead, and to continue building a healthier future for everyone who calls Rutherford County home.
