On Oct. 7, Ascension will take part in a Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC) briefing titled "The Future is Calling," which will focus on the latest developments in telehealth/virtual care. Ascension will be represented by Richard D. Fessler, MD, Chairman of Surgery for St. John Hospital and Medical Center, part of St. John Providence Health System in Detroit. Dr. Fessler is the founder of the Michigan Stroke Network and the St. John Providence Health System NeuroOnCall Network, which provide specialty physician access to stroke victims who might not otherwise have treatment options. His stroke care model has been replicated across the country at numerous institutions, and his programs have been featured by the Health Care Advisory Board. Other panel participants represent BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and Premier healthcare alliance.
