Gary Blake, director of pharmacy for the East Region of Ascension’s St. John Providence Health System, Warren, Michigan, was named the 2014 Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) Pharmacist of the Year at the Society’s Annual Meeting in November. Blake oversees pharmacy services for three hospitals and represents pharmacy practice and the Michigan region in several roles with Ascension Health.
“Gary embodies the exceptional professionalism and leadership that we need at every health system,” said Roy Guharoy, PharmD, MBA, Vice President, Clinical Integration, Chief Pharmacy Officer, Ascension Health. “I admire him for integrating patient care at every level reflected by outstanding care outcome and cost effectiveness. His leadership reflects what can be done with the integration of multidisciplinary teamwork.”
Blake has been engaged in MSHP and the Michigan Pharmacists Association since 1992, and has served in several leadership positions over the years.
