Wall Street Journal Features Ascension Efforts to Control Supply Costs

Ascension is featured in a Wall Street Journal story about how U.S. hospitals are using technology to make supply ordering more efficient. According to the story, many hospitals are adopting technology already used in retail settings and other industries to help reduce costs associated with maintaining inventories of supplies.

Mike Gray, Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of The Resource Group, Ascension’s resource and supply management subsidiary, says Ascension is using a bar code system to maintain real-time inventory levels of products, so orders are automatically generated when supplies reach a certain point. The system also allows staff to locate supplies anywhere in a hospital.
