Ascension St. Vincent Orthopedic Hospital opens its doors

Ascension St. Vincent Orthopedic Hospital, part of Ascension Indiana, opened this month.

The facility, a partnership between St. Vincent Evansville and Tri-State Orthopaedic Surgeons, will meet the growing needs of the southern Indiana region as the area’s only hospital dedicated solely to orthopedic care.

“Through this partnership we are bringing our community an orthopedic hospital set apart from the rest. Through coordinated services and the latest technology, patients of the Ascension St. Vincent Orthopedic Hospital can expect a seamless experience from pre-procedure testing all the way through surgery to therapy and beyond,” said Dan Parod, President, Southern Region, Ascension St. Vincent Evansville.

The 135,000-square-foot facility includes a chapel, two procedure rooms, 10 operating rooms and 24 inpatient rooms, with room for further expansion. In addition to elective orthopedic and spine surgeries, the hospital will provide pre-procedure education, imaging and laboratory services, physical therapy and respiratory therapy, hospitalist services, and durable medical equipment. Intensive care, trauma care and emergency room services will remain at St. Vincent Evansville.

The Ascension St. Vincent Orthopedic Hospital is the first facility in Indiana to bear the Ascension St. Vincent name and signage. In the coming months, St. Vincent will add the Ascension brand to all its facilities and services in Indiana as part of a national effort to make it easier for consumers to find the care they need, when and where they need it.

The opening of the new hospital was covered by The Courier & Press.
