Media story features Ascension Wisconsin’s All Tressed Up

An Ascension Wisconsin service to help cancer victims dealing with hair loss was featured recently on Spectrum News 1.

Lori Stefanski, a nurse at Ascension All Saints Cancer Center, won Ascension’s Launchpad competition, which funds associates’ innovative ideas. With a Launchpad grant, Lori crated All Tressed Up, a convenient space for patients to get a low-cost or free wig, learn about hair care/wig care, and receive scarves and hats.

"This is a really hard time for them when they are either in the process they know they are going to lose their hair, or they just have and that panic sets in, ‘what do I do?’" Lori said. She now has a custom closet that holds more than 50 wigs.

The primary goal of All Tressed Up is to help patients increase their emotional and physical well-being. Patients say that looking good helps them feel better and gives them the confidence they need to cope with their disease.
