Detroit publication highlights Ascension Michigan Healthy Heart Project

Hour Detroit Magazine recently featured an interview with Shukri David, MD, Chair of the Ascension Michigan Cardiovascular Service Line, discussing Ascension Michigan’s Healthy Heart Project, which has earned Dr. David the publication’s “Excellence in Care Award” for 2019.

The community outreach event focuses on cardiovascular health and offers participants a free electrocardiogram and other heart health screenings. The article notes more than 10,000 people have participated in the event since its inception 15 years ago.

“Many people don’t have access to healthcare, can’t afford insurance, or have high deductibles,” Dr. David said. “Our event helps the community with real health education and advice.”
