Carol Campbell named as one of Modern Healthcare’s Leading Women

Ascension is proud to announce that Senior Vice President and Chief Experience Officer Carol Campbell has been named one of Modern Healthcare’s Leading Women. At Ascension, Carol is helping advance patient experience by bringing consumer-centered practices from outside the industry into how care is delivered.

Since joining the company, Carol has led a shift from traditional industry models to a more comprehensive consumer experience that integrates the human, physical, and digital touchpoints for patients, friends, and families across a full continuum of care.

“Experience cannot be treated as separate from clinical care,” Carol Campbell said. “The way we communicate and show up for people in every moment shapes how care is experienced and whether patients feel clarity, confidence, and trust throughout their journey.”

Under her leadership, Ascension is reimagining every aspect of their experience. Merging the warmth of human connection with the ease of digital tools and the comfort of our local facilities helps ensure every experience aligns with the highest possible quality of clinical care.

Under her leadership, Ascension implemented an enterprise listening ecosystem designed to better understand patient needs and behaviors while elevating the patient voice in strategic and operational decisions. New service expectations and delivery models have been established for all positions that interface with patients. Reimagined physical environments create calm and more deeply the local communities we serve. Most importantly, her team is working tirelessly across the entire ministry to remove friction and simplify the complexities of healthcare.

Carol joined Ascension in 2022 and leads the organization’s enterprise strategy for consumer and patient experience. She brings extensive consumer experience leadership from outside healthcare, applying proven practices from other industries to help Ascension build more intuitive, responsive, and human-forward care experiences. Prior to joining Ascension, she led large-scale customer experience initiatives and helped drive record-setting Net Promoter Scores.

Through her work, Ascension continues to advance a model where experience is woven into every part of care delivery. Her leadership reinforces the organization’s commitment to listening closely, learning continuously, and ensuring every interaction reflects the dignity and compassion at the heart of its Mission.
