With the help of Ascension and its associates following Hurricane Dorian's devastating impact on the Bahamas earlier this year, Cross Catholic Outreach was able to respond quickly, providing emergency relief to those in greatest need with the help of the Archdiocese of Nassau, Bahamas.
The charity immediately sent cash aid to the archdiocese so it could begin caring for the victims of the hurricane. It also shipped 544,320 nutrient-rich meals, and 6,800 hygiene kits (soap, toothbrush, comb, etc.) to help supply shelters, according to Kendra Windle, International Development Officer, Cross Catholic Outreach. The organization is now transitioning into recovery phase and is preparing to send roofing materials in addition to other needed supplies.
In September, Joseph R. Impicciche, JD, MHA, President and Chief Executive Officer, Ascension, asked all associates to consider supporting Cross Catholic Outreach's relief effort.
"Thank you again for your generous support of our Bahama relief efforts," Kendra wrote to Joe. "And thank you for sharing this need with the Ascension staff."
"I'd like to express my gratitude to you for this expression of Christian solidarity that you've shown us," said the Most Rev. Patrick Christopher Pinder, Archbishop of Nassau. "The most important thing I think for us to realize is that we need to stand firm in faith and realize that the God who has brought us to this point will take us through this point, and we do so with great hope. … I express my deepest gratitude to you, and God bless the work that you do."
