The Birth & Women’s Center team at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas, recently was recognized as a High 5 for Mom and Baby hospital.
Being a High 5 hospital means the hospital supports skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth, gives newborns only breast milk (unless other options are medically necessary), supports rooming in with mom 24/7, gives no pacifiers to breastfeeding infants, and provides resources and support to breastfeeding moms upon discharge. The hospital is one of 29 Kansas hospitals that have earned the recognition.
