Over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, a couple at Ascension St. Vincent Carmel, part of Ascension Indiana, welcomed twins born a half hour apart – on different days and in different years and decades.
As noted by USA Today and the Indianapolis Star, Dawn Gilliam and her partner of seven years, Jason Tello, welcomed one baby — Joslyn — at 11:37 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2019. Exactly 30 minutes later, at 12:07 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2020, her twin brother, Jaxon, was born.
“We talked about it would be great to have them born on different dates. But here we are with this surprise — different dates, different years,” Jason Tello told reporters at a news conference in the hospital’s maternity ward.
Joslyn and Jaxon were expected on Feb. 19. They are making progress in the neonatal intensive care unit.
The story was covered by multiple news outlets including People, CNN, TODAY, the New York Post the New York Daily News, WSLS and The Sun in England.
