Dell Children’s celebrates 9-month-old’s heart transplant

In celebration of April as National Donate Life Month, Dell Children’s Medical Center, part of Ascension Texas, celebrated the life of a 9-month-old heart transplant recipient, as reported by CBS Austin.

Baby Leo, the pediatric hospital’s 20th heart transplant recipient, received his new heart at the hospital on March 23 and was recovering at Dell Children's.

The story also mentions that Dell Children's pediatric heart transplantation program is a pivotal life-extending surgery for children with advanced heart failure.

In a separate Texas story related to Donate Life Month, associates at Ascension Providence in Waco raised a memorial National Blue & Green Day flag, dressed in blue and green attire, and served blue and green treats. During National Donate Life Blue & Green Day, the public is encouraged to wear blue and green and to engage in sharing the Donate Life message and promoting the importance of registering as an organ, eye and tissue donor.

Fox 44 News ran the story, noting Ascension Providence had five donor patients last year with 10 organs transplanted.
